An insightful, delightful new novel from the number-one New York Times bestselling author of Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation.
One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming....

Nora Stephens' life is books - she’s read them all - and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.
Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away - with visions of a small-town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.
If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again - in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow - what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

If you’re a part of the book community at all, I know you’ve heard of this book. It’s ALL OVER THE PLACE right now–and rightly so!

I can’t seem to ever get enough book about books–or people who love books.

Nora is a literary agent–and a damn good one. She meets Charlie, a book editor, when she wants him to edit a book from one of her authors. The first time they meet, you can just feel the awkwardness. The only thing that saves it is the fact that Nora is a witty smartass and Charlie–well, he doesn’t seem all bad. To be fair, neither are at their best.

Fast-forward to the point where the book Charlie turned down is now a hit with a movie on the way. And the book he turned down? Based in the town of Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. Where Nora finds herself with her sister, Libby–who seems to be going through her own crises.

And just who does Nora run into while in Sunshine Falls?? You guessed it. Charlie Lastra, grumpy book editor.

Charlie and Nora constantly run into each other, and the witty banter between them is just FIRE. Plus, they obviously just have tons in common and they both realize this almost immediately.

Each with their own baggage and issues, they seem to not want to engage in a relationship–as difficult as it is to avoid.

This couple is one of my absolute favorites to read about. They are both incredibly interesting characters that never felt two-dimensional or flat. And their respective families and friends brought quite a bit of fun to the novel, as well.

I read this in about a day. I just couldn’t seem to put it down. And, thus begins my obsession with Emily Henry.
