Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Standalone Books That Need a Sequel

Well, as one of my favorite all-time books, I don’t think I need to say that I could use more. I could use more Jane, Mr. Rochester and whatever other characters Ms. Bronte would like to introduce.

I read this one before seeing the movie. And, I think I may enjoy the book more, surprisingly. But, even with the book, I feel like there just wasn’t enough of an ending for me. What was life like for the characters after everything? I want to know!

This one was just mean. Okay, I mean, it was great. But, it was still mean. I prefer books where the main characters end up together… I need that. Not that you shouldn’t read it anyway, because it’s amazing! I think Robinne Lee is talking about writing a sequel even though nothing is confirmed yet.

There’s going to be a pattern here. I need a really happy ending. Granted, this may have to get completely re-written for that.

Who WOULDN’T want more Elizabeth and Darcy?! There are so many sequels out there, already, written by everyone other than Jane Austen. But, I wish Ms. Austen had left us a little more about life at Pemberley once the Darcys settle.

Stephenie Meyer wrote this so long ago and promised a sequel. Where in the world is the sequel?! Seriously, I need more!

Another one that came out YEARS ago! I mean, I was a teen when Witchlight was published. And Ms. Smith has been working on the final book for over a decade… Maybe even two? So, I get it… Stuff happens. But, oh my goodness, I would lose it if she ever published the rest of this series!

This was probably one of my favorite high school reads. It was suspenseful, sad, and highly entertaining. But, I need to know what became of Pearl. That poor girl… What was life like for her?

Sooooo…again with needing a happy ending. I won’t spoil this one. It would ruin the book. But, for those of you that have read it–what say you?

I can’t tell you how much I ship Christine and the phantom. I know… I may be sick. But, I do. It’s just the way it is. So, let’s jump in our time machine, meet up with Leroux and tell him how badly Christine and the phantom need their ending. BUT, in case you don’t have a time machine, I believe there are sequels out there with just this kind of story by other authors.

Any of these you agree with? Disagree with? Let me know!
