#1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole introduces The Arcana Chronicles, post-apocalyptic tales filled with riveting action, the dark mysticism of Tarot cards, and breathtaking romance.

She could save the world-or destroy it.
Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future-and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can’t do either alone.
With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?
As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side…

This book has been on my list of books to read for years. Literally.
And like all the other unread books on my shelf right now, I had a feeling I’d love it, but I just had a list to get through first.

I started Poison Princess and then proceeded to read it in about a day and a half. Before I was through half of the book, I ordered the next two on Amazon.

It took me exactly two paragraphs to realize that this was a jewel. Evie is a character that has depth and made me love her. She absolutely is the kind of protagonist that I can read about for another four books or more.

Evie is extremely popular and well-loved but not everyone knows her. They don’t know that she’s been having visions and was sent away to get help for them over the summer. Not even her boyfriend, who she professes to love. But these visions are all just a part of the bigger picture. A picture that the reader gets to see little-by-little as the story progresses.

Enter Jack. Oh, Jack, oh, Jack.

Here’s the thing; Jack is kind of an ass. A Cajun, handsome, sarcastic, ass. But, he’s also kind of dreamy. And, whether he’ll admit it or not, there’s no denying he holds a torch for Evie. Assness aside, Jack is an incredibly strong character that is an onion. An onion? This boy has layers. And with each layer that is peeled back I fell in love with him more and more.

Poison Princess takes the reader on a very original ride. Part dystopian, part fantasy, part paranormal, with a heaping of combustible romance…

I can’t wait to finish this series and see what happens to, not only Evie and Jack, but the other incredibly satisfying characters that we meet along this journey.
