For one-thousand years, Druid prophecies foretold of a young witch destined to alter the fate of both human and immortal alike. This witch-turned-vampire would be capable of harnessing the supernatural abilities of both and, in a bloody rise to power, would rule with unwavering control. Unwillingly thrust into a world she never dreamed existed, Liz Markum is catapulted into an ancient war between rival vampire factions. She must choose between those she loves and the ever-present darkness attempting to devour her very soul. Only one question remains: Will Liz claim her birthright or surrender to the dark gift? One choice. One chance. Two destinies.

~Review~

From start to finish this book didn’t stop entertaining. I honestly cannot think of one dull moment in this story.

Liz and Michael meet and within a few pages, Liz has been turned into a vampire after a kiss and ONE bite. And, that’s just NOT how it’s supposed to happen. Just so you know, this is NOT another Twilight. So, if you read “vampire” and it scares you off a little…don’t let it. While there ARE vampires, this is no “dreamy-vampire-love-story”.

Okay, so Liz has been turned into a vampire and for a while it looks as if she and Michael will be enemies. Again, this is not the case. After Liz’s full transformation there is an instantaneous love and bond between her and Michael. And it’s all a result of him turning her. An act which is forbidden by the vampire Council.

From here, the book turns into a story of politics, intrigue, and mystery surrounding not just Michael and Liz, but a cast of a few other very lovable characters, as well.

Birthright kept my interest the entire day or so it took me to read it. The ONLY complaint that I have is that the story between Michael and Liz sort of took a backseat to all the rest. I would’ve really liked to see and get to know more of these two.

But, there was still an amazing story here. One worth reading if you enjoy all things paranormal with a pinch of surprise!

~About the Author~

Willow Cross resides in Arkansas with her husband, two children still young enough to live at home, an enormous cat named Bitsy, and a neurotic dog named Tank. Her home has been known to host the occasional ghost and several of her friends profess to be witches. Although she dearly loves Vampires and Werewolves, they are never invited for dinner.
