Hi Christine!

I hope my book, Serenade, interests you! Here's the blurb:

Teenage heiress Kaya experiences her first taste of freedom when she's kidnapped from her sheltered life, but as she forms an unlikely connection with her abductor, Luke, her adventure takes a strange turn. As her father's men and her devoted bodyguard scour the woods to find her, she wonders if staying in the arms of her abductor is the safer place to be. At least, that's what her heart is saying — her head is saying run...

There's nothing magical about growing up in a mountainside castle when it's your prison. Kaya's ruthless and powerful father keeps her under lock and key, guarded and watched every second of the day, and Kaya's not really sure why. She's just a normal girl. No one special. She doesn't understand her father's obsession with her safety - until she is kidnapped.

Dragged through a brutal wilderness, Kaya's captor forces her to face a most devastating truth, and even though he has dark secrets of his own, she is inexplicably drawn to him. With powerful forces bearing down on Kaya and her freedom, her survival becomes an epic journey of self discovery and life-or-death love.

When the stars are in your eyes, sometimes the line between right and wrong is blurred. Passion obliterates common sense. Love... makes you reckless.

Dangerously passionate and darkly romantic, SERENADE is a page-turning thriller and seductive love story.

Serenade is a story about Kaya–an eighteen-year-old who has been pretty much kept prisoner in her home her whole life…with, arguably good reason.

Kaya’s dad is hated and so people want to use Kaya to get to him–amongst other things. Seriously, there are other reasons why people are after Kaya. This poor girl just can’t catch a break!

Kaya, now eighteen, and wanting a bit more freedom, finds herself in quite a predicament when she decides to enter a race. From there, well, the story takes quite a turn.

Let me just say, that this story was very entertaining. I didn’t find myself having to slog through or make myself pick it up–which is always a good thing. In fact, I was quite determined to get to the end and find out how this all ties up. My issues lie with the fact that I really had a difficult time with most of the characters.

Kaya’s assumed love interest, Oliver, just was kind of flat to me. And maybe that’s the way it was meant to be…After all, this is quite a love triangle.

Kaya herself, while I felt for her, needed a little fleshing out as a character. And I think that’s because this is the first in a trilogy–she has a lot of growing to do.

Luke, the other point in the triangle, was by far my favorite. He had the air of a man willing to do anything to keep those he loves safe. That’s really his only motivation in this one.

All-in-all, this was entertaining and romantic.

I do have some lingering questions–like, where does music come into play with this series? It is called the “Nightmusic Trilogy” after all. Why do certain characters hate Kaya so much?

I’m hoping–and assuming–that all of this gets answered in the other two books.
