Book Blogger Hop: April 24-30

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy Burgess from Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

Uh, absolutely! I mean, if I’ve been wanting to read the book for awhile, anyway–I’ll probably ignore the ratings. But, I’m not going to “waste” money on a book that has mostly negative reviews. Likewise, if I was on the fence before and the book as a solid 4 stars or more, I’ll be more likely to buy it.

  1. It does and it doesn’t. I’ll pay attention to star ratings to an extent, but I have to read the actual reviews too. Because someone might hate something I love, and vice versa.

  2. I use ratings plus reviews to help me decide if it’s a book I am on the fence about. I can’t just look at stars and I can’t just look at reviews. It’s the two together that paint that full picture for me. I need to know why the rating was high or low. Maybe they liked or didn’t like things, which wouldn’t affect me the same way

    • No, you’re absolutely right! I hadn’t even thought about that–that’s two of you who brought up this excellent point! Sometimes reviewers don’t like books for reasons that I may LOVE them! 🙂
