How exactly has one good deed landed me in the penalty box?

Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn has come down with the flu, and my BFF—his PR manager—begs me to put my nursing degree to use and get him back to health. Of course she would call in a favor for the most hated man in Harbor City.

But when he’s finally on the mend and I’m sneaking out of his place, everything goes sideways. Paparazzi spot me and pictures, plus accusations that I slept with him, fly faster than a hockey puck.

At first, all of Harbor City wants my blood—or to give me a girlie-girl makeover. But then…the team finally wins a game. And now this fickle town wants me with the big jerk twenty-four seven.

Argh. I never slept with him the first time! But no one will listen. Then the grumpy bastard goes and promises to break his no-fan-appearances rule to help raise money for a free health clinic—but only if I’m rink-side at every game. That’s not a deal I can turn down.

But when the team keeps winning, and I realize there’s more to him than his bad reputation, suddenly remembering to keep my real hands off my fake date gets harder and harder to do.

USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

Okay, Okay... So, yes... This is the THIRD in Avery Flynn's Hartigan series. So, why am I only reviewing this one? Why haven't I reviewed the others? Honestly? Because my computer died and I just gave up. I don't know what else to say. SO... I'm going to go back (now that my computer is all better) and post reviews for the previous two books in this series on Amazon. It's happening.

Now, if you've never heard of Avery Flynn (which, sadly, I hadn't until Muffintop, then I suggest you stop what you're doing, go to whichever preferred book retailer you normally throw your money at, and check out the Hartigan series by Ms. Flynn. I'll warn you, if you don't like any detailed love scenes, then she's not going to be your cup of tea. However, she's not what I'd deem "erotica", so... I'll just leave that there.

But, oh my word, does Avery Flynn know how to tell a quirky, flirty love story. And it's not because she abuses the same tropes we're all so used to (no judgement here, for those that do--I love a good campy romance trope). I love these stories because these characters are sassy, unique, and have qualities that are remarkably realistic.

With titles like Butterface, Muffintop, and Tomboy, this shouldn't come as a surprise.

Tomboy, being the third in the series, takes us into the world of Fallon Hartigan. She's about as feisty and independent as they come. But, throw a rather charming hockey player in her direction and we see a Fallon that thaws throughout the book.

Fallon, who we met in the previous two Hartigan books, is a nurse who basically gets stuck caring for the town's most-hated hockey player (due to some previous actions of his). With preconceived ideas regarding each other, both Fallon and Zach have some hurtles to overcome--but, none of these hurtles quite matches the issues revolving around these two stubborn individuals who didn't see the other coming.

This story will no doubt hold your attention from beginning to end. You'll be swept away with Fallon and Zach, and get to see some of your favorites from the previous two books, as well.

You can read this as a stand-alone. But, I wouldn't suggest it. In fact, see above: Go check out Butterface while you're waiting for Tomboy to hit stores February 18th.

Undecided? Check out the giveaway below to enter to win any ebook from the Hartigan series!
