Tigress
Three hours later, he finished dinner, took a bite off a piece of cornbread that went with the chili he’d made and stared blankly into the snow. The white flash of the animal he'd seen earlier high on his thought list. There wasn't one white animal he could think of that lived in the woods, unless it was a wolf. It had to be a wolf, which meant there were more. Wolves weren't singular animals but plural, they moved in packs.
A shotgun leaned against the log wall beside the door. He had protection if it was a wolf. He didn't hunt, but could fire a bullet straight into the heart or head of anything. His dad had taught him since he was a boy, hoping to make him a hunter. Jestin didn't have the heart. He was a softie who loved life. Again, the case with Trevor Bolling haunted him.
Drawing open the curtain in his room so the sun would shine bright in the morning and wake him early, he lay in bed, fighting his thoughts about work, and went to sleep.
His sleep burdened with his own guilt, he tossed and turned, finally waking. The light of the crescent moon filtering through the window, casting a glow. Fluffing the pillow beneath his head, he turned toward the open window, two violet eyes stared back at him.

I’ve never been afraid of the dark...but that doesn’t mean I wanted to live in it. And maybe everyone wants what they can’t have, but I should’ve thought it over before I accepted the key and unlocked the door to their forbidden world.

Number One is mostly silent. He watches me with them very carefully. His gaze never wanders. His interest never wanes.

Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side.

Number Three is mostly reserved. He refuses to cross the line. Even when I beg.

It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That’s it. That’s all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden.

I just didn’t expect to like them.

ETERNAL NIGHT, by Jade Kerrion
Ashra’s hand trailed across Jaden’s muscled torso. He made it easy for her to be gentle. His body trembled as if he longed for her. His mouth was hungry for her kiss. He arched up against her, as if craving more. His need was like a living creature, wild and aching for her touch.

Eyes closed, Ashra shivered. Only one other person had desired her as much.

And he was dead.

She forced her way through the memories of pale bodies tangled upon cool silk sheets. When her soul-sucking power leeched out, it found no opposition. Images of the human’s life rewound in a blaze of vivid sights, sounds, and sensations.

Ashra looked up at Tera, her smile little more than a barely perceptible curve of her lips. “He fancies himself the protector of the child of prophecy. Was she among those taken tonight?”

Tera nodded.

Ashra chuckled, the sound without humor. “It’s a pity her genetic heritage wasn’t sufficiently superior to prevent her from being culled.”

“There’s more. Go deep.”

She pushed past the blackness at the start of his memories, expecting deeper darkness. Instead, the colors shifted into shades of ochre and gray. Memories, older than his body, resided in his soul; memories of an Earth long since lost to them—a planet surrounded and nourished by water; images of tall buildings glistening beneath a benevolent sun, and of thriving cities filled with the bustle of humans; memories of quiet and intimate conversations beneath a silver moon, the same silver moon that now graced Malum Turris with its light, though a thousand years older and viewed only from beneath the protection of the dome.

She saw herself as he must have seen her, a much-younger icrathari, still hopeful for the future, never realizing that the Earth they had all known and loved was irretrievably lost. Had she ever looked that vulnerable? Had her smile ever been so beautiful, so filled with love as she looked upon—

“Rohkeus?” Oh, blessed Creator, was that stricken whisper her voice?

Ashra pulled back and stared at the human. Her mouth dropped open. Her heart pounded in her chest, its beat erratic. It couldn’t be. It simply couldn’t be—

She looked up at Tera. The other icrathari nodded.

Rohkeus’s soul reborn…in a human.

Ashra threw her head back and laughed, a despairing sound. Her prince, her love, reduced to a human? Her slender fingers coiled into fists. Her golden eyes glittering, she pushed away from him, though her body trembled from the loss of his warmth. No, the human was not Rohkeus; he could never be Rohkeus.

Steeling herself against the gasp of pain that escaped from his lips as the anesthetizing effect of her kiss faded, Ashra rose to her feet with sinuous grace. “He is not one of us. Not anymore.” Nothing had been more devastating than losing Rohkeus to a human assassin. To see his soul reborn in that contemptible and weak race was an insult to the person Rohkeus had been.

“Should we turn him into a vampire?” Tera asked.

“Kill him. Set Rohkeus’s soul free.”

A Cross to Bear: A Gabriella Cross Paranormal Romance Book 1
All around her, the sounds of baying wolves echoed in the night. Trees slapped her face as she ran, and she tripped more than once. She was crying now and mumbling to herself, terrified. She dared not look back, knowing that the wolves were pursuing her. She came out of the woods into a clearing leading to a tall hill. The howls came from all directions. Shadows flew through the woods in her peripheral vision, and Gabby cried out. She fell again, skinning her knee badly on a jagged rock. In her terrified state, she felt no pain, but continued as fast as she could and ran up the hill.

A snarl came from directly behind her, and she instinctively turned and cried out. A wolf was bearing down on her fast. She turned and raised a hand as the beast leapt at her with gleaming claws leading the way.

“NO!” Gabby cried.

To her amazement, the wolf changed form in mid-flight and turned into a naked man. He landed at her feet on all fours and snarled at her.

“Get away from me!” she screamed.

The naked man backed away from her warily, glancing down at his human hands with a look of confusion and shock. More wolves were coming out of the woods. They stopped when they saw the one who had turned into a human in the light of the full moon.

Gabby wasted no time considering her luck and ran as fast as she could up the hill.

“Gabriella Cross, stop!” Michael’s voice rose up over the howls.

Gabby could hardly see through her tears. She didn’t dare look back, knowing that she would find death closing in on her. She reached the top of the hill and ran across the flat expanse of rocky earth.

“Gabriella!” came the voice again.

The wolves were gaining on her.

She darted between two pines blocking her way, receiving many scrapes on her face and arms. Half blinded by tears and slapping branches, she stumbled out from between the trees and suddenly came to a steep cliff. She tried to stop, but her momentum was too great. With a terrified cry she fell forward over the cliff.

She frantically thrashed her arms as she fell to her death. Above, on the ledge, a mournful wolf cried out. The ground was coming up fast to crush her, and Gabby closed her eyes, not wanting to see her death.

Then. Suddenly. Gabriella was weightless.

Strong arms held her firmly. She opened her eyes to find a winged beast staring back at her.

Gabby passed out.

A Guide to the Other Side: Blog Tour & Giveaway

Title: A Guide to the Other Side
Author: Robert Imfeld
Publication Date: Oct. 4, 2016
Find: Amazon | Goodreads | B&N | Book Depository

A boy and his ghostly twin sister work together to pass messages from the beyond in this funny paranormal debut.

There are a few things you should know about Baylor Bosco: He’s thirteen-years-old, he has a twin sister, and he really does NOT like ghosts…which is problematic because he’s a medium and sees ghosts everywhere.

Oh, and his twin sister, Kristina? She’s a ghost too.

They’ve been working as a pair for years, expertly relaying messages from ghosts to their still-living loved ones. Baylor’s even managed to come up with an introductory phrase—one that he has to use far too often.

But when a strange ghost shows up close to Halloween, a grown man, covered in a sheet, with only his black leather shoes showing from the bottom, Baylor starts to wonder if something else has taken notice of him. And when his sister goes missing, somehow ghost-napped, he’s forced to figure out the truth about the Sheet Man and his sister’s disappearance, all without his usual ghostly ambassador.

The Most Random, Spontaneous Thing Robert Imfeld Has Ever Done...
Oh, this topic is easy since it just happened. I recently got a new job and had a week off between my last day and my first day, and I wanted to take a trip somewhere. A responsible person would have used the weeks before their last day to plan out a trip and book tickets, but sadly, I am not a responsible person. Instead, I wound up hunting for airfare at 1 a.m. on the day before my last day, trying to piece together an itinerary that 1) made sense and 2) did not cost one million dollars.

I booked four separate flights (the first of which took off the very next night!) to Sweden, Scotland, and Denmark, and then had to find accommodations, which was a delirious process that finally concluded at 4 a.m. I got three hours of sleep before work and then woke up in a panic that I’d made a terrible mistake because holy crap I was leaving for Europe tomorrow and had nothing ready and I was going alone since it’s hard to find an international travel buddy on less than 24 hours’ notice and I was visiting three cities in six days?!?! Cue a rush of errands – doing laundry, getting a haircut, shopping for travel necessities, and, most importantly, researching the cities. I was truly going in blind since I’d picked everything based on the cheapest airfare. Seriously, the most I knew about Sweden was that it gifted the world ABBA and IKEA. Looking back now, though, I’m so glad I went and didn’t cancel everything when I woke in that panicky haze. Edinburgh, Scotland now ranks in one of my top 10 favorite cities, and Stockholm and Copenhagen were two amazing gems that I look forward to exploring more in the future.

I woke up on the cathedral’s stone floor and glanced around, as wedding guests applauded from their seats in the wooden pews. “Thank you,” I said. “Thank you very much,” and pushed myself to standing. “I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve all this wonderful affirmation, but I sincerely appreciate it.”
Nicholas stood at front of the church and smiled and waved at me. “Lucy!”
“Nick! You’re here. Oh, my God, the whole nightmare about you standing me up at the altar was simply a horrible dream. I should have known better. What’s all the kerfuffle? Why are all these people applauding?”
“They’re celebrating our wedding my love.” He held out his hand to me. “It’s finally time that we get married. But first you have to walk down the aisle. Let’s get the party started, Lucy.”
“Oh my God, Nicholas. That is the most romantic thing I think you’ve ever said to me, especially in front of all these people. Hang on, I’m warming up.” I shook my hands, cracked my neck, and started my crazy great dance moves down the aisle as “Cake by the Ocean” by DNCE played in the background.
“Lucy, my darling, I’ve wanted to slip a ring on that important finger since the first time I met you. I imagined what it would be like to be your husband. We’d have sex every morning, twice at night, and even a few times during the middle of the day during national holidays. You’ll never have to count calories ever again. You’ll burn them all off with me!”
“The dream of wedded bliss keeps getting better and better, Nicholas!” I said, busted a few more moves to the song, and waved back at all the folks who were waving to me. Everyone was so friendly at my wedding, and I wondered why I was worried about them being judgmental.
An old duke peppered with liver spots eyed me and snapped his fingers in time with the music. A few teenagers hopped up on the church pews and danced with each other. By the time I glanced back at the altar, Nick was eating from a huge wedding cake with his hands, frosting dripping from his fingers. “It’s so yum, Lucy! Hurry up! Pick up the pace! We must wed now!”
“Yes, Nicholas,” I said, and jogged toward him. “I can’t wait to marry you! This whole thing is so exciting it almost makes me want to take my clothes off and run through a sprinkler with you and my dog, Tulip! She’s a yellow lab and you know how those dogs love the water.”
“We can do that after we get married, Lucy,” he said, and licked frosting suggestively from his fingers. “I love you!”
“I love you back,” I said, and jogged even faster.
“But you won’t have to take your clothes off, Lucy. You’re already breathtakingly beautiful in your naked form.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about Nicholas.”
“You’re in the buff, my love,” he said. “Why do you think the crowds are applauding so enthusiastically?”
I tripped over a photographer, sent him flying, and looked down in horror. I no longer wore a beautiful flowing vintage silk batiste wedding gown, but a size fourteen suit of bare lady skin. I was jogging down the aisle of the Royal Fredonia Cathedral one hundred percent naked.
“Ms. Trabbicio! Ms. Trabbicio!”
I turned and stared at the photographer I’d just drop kicked down the aisle. He was hunched in a ball on the ground but still managed to hold his enormous camera and aim it straight at me. “I need to take your picture for our magazine,” he said.
I turned and mooned him. “Then you’d better get a picture of my good side.”
