Blurb from Goodreads:
Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

My Review:

I really think I must've had something wrong with me for not reading this sooner. I can't even for sure say why I DIDN'T. Okay, forget that. I think it has something to do with having about a GAZILLION other books to read and review that I already owned.

But, when I read about the 50th positive review on OBSIDIAN I knew that I just had to check it out. And, oh my--I'm so happy that I did.

So, I wonder if I'm the only one who was put off by Daemon in the first few chapters. Because I have to say, after reading about how "HAWT" he is from all the other fabulous bloggers out there, I started to wonder if there was some sort of big, alien conspiracy going on. I mean, could he BE any more of a (insert one of Katy's many great adjectives here)?! I almost put the book down I was so terrified of being let down. However, I kept on truckin' and once I got through less than half-way I completely understood what all the raucous was about. To be honest, I think Ms. Armentrout is an absolute GENIUS to make a character so multi-faceted as Daemon. I'm pretty sure there is still a lot we don't know about him, and that just makes me want to keep reading!

As for Katy...Who WOULDN'T like her?! She's sweet, friendly, caring, and--more importantly--doesn't take crap from anybody(Spaghetti, anyone?). From the beginning, I couldn't help to feel for this girl who, obviously, just needs someone in her life to care about her and for her to have some companionship with. I definitely see character growth in her from start to finish. And more than that, I love a girl who sticks to her guns and doesn't compromise, even for a handsome face.

Out of all the characters, Dee is definitely one of my favorites! I love how she's so different than the rest of her alien friends/family and is so open to humans and just wants to be "normal". Also, I'm REALLY hoping there's a happy-ending in there for her, as well.

Ms. Armentrout totally impresses with how much of a handle she has on this world that she built. I've never read a book about aliens that I enjoyed so much. In fact, I'm having a hard time not picking up this book and reading it again.
